Sponsored Surname Email Lists

For those interested in pursuing their Scott genealogy, the Clan Scott Society has been a sponsor of the SCOTT surname genealogy email distribution list since 1994. This free list in not limited to Clan Scott members and has over 700 Scott surname researchers subscribing world-wide. A genealogical inquiry sent to one email address will reach each of these Scott researchers, sometimes with immediate results.  Instructions for sending messages will be sent to you when you subscribe to the list

If you'd like to subscribe to the regular SCOTT surname mailing list, simply send an email message to SCOTT-L-request@rootsweb.com with the message SUBSCRIBE and nothing else (no signature, enhanced text, or HTML). Anything on the subject line will do.  You will receive a confirmation message within a few hours.  Please read the accompanying Rules and Frequently Asked Questions before sending any message.

To send a message to the SCOTT-L list for re-distribution to subscribers, address your email to SCOTT-L@rootsweb.com - note that the word "request" is missing from the address. The "request" address is used to subscribe and unsubscribe from the list.
 
Alternatively, there is a digest version which will send you one email message with all the day's postings.  This version adds a table of contents at the top using the sender's subject line and is handy for those who do not like to receive multiple email messages each day.


Besides the SCOTT surname mailing list, the Clan Scott Society sponsors several other surname lists to assist our extended family in their genealogical pursuits.  To help you subscribe to these lists, links have been provided below to each.  Simply click on the link to launch your email software and put the word SUBSCRIBE in the message area.  Be sure to turn off HTML and signatures before sending the message - they confuse the automated subscription server.

 * Both email distribution lists contain the same postings.  It is unnecessary to subscribe to both Regular and Digest versions..
For information or assistance with any of the above surname lists, contact the list administrator by sending an email to SURNAME-admin@rootsweb.com replacing the SURNAME portion of the address with the surname of the list.  For instance, the list administrator of the SCOTT surname list can be reached at SCOTT-admin @rootsweb.com.
